t.i.l.t. swimming hair
the girl shorties show up
with perfectly smooth curls
and braids.
hair-grease, with the help of
baubles and clips and hair-ties,
keeps it all in place.
but after hours of swimming
(that story to follow
sometime this weekend)
the smoothness kinks,
the braids float out under water,
and the styling products run
down wet cheeks
as the vanity of the
perfectly-coiffed-do
expires.
this is one of the best parts
after a day of swimming
with the shorties.
LOVE IT! what beauty in that hair...and the smiles!
ReplyDeleteand if I may ask, what camera do you use?
Such sweet faces...
ReplyDeleteI'm glad vanity has not kept them from swimming. It happens you know. Hair is sacred in a balck girl's world...
deezee. i looked at these pictures and realized how fast they are growing up. i have had them since third grade and they just seem so grown in these shots.
ReplyDeletei use a nikon D-50 and love it.
kristine-don't i know it! my shorties cried once when i cut off my long hair. they begged me to make it long again. "how could you?" they said.
there is one student who, three years later, still talks about that incident.
my girls don't care. they know that they will go home and someone will fix it.
they are so beautiful i almost can't take it. sigh...
Great pictures! (as always...) They really are growing up. I can't believe they will be my fifth graders next year! J. looks super grown without her glasses :)
