spc: me as a caterer
this month's self portrait challenge
is "me as (fill in the blank)."
so i am revealing "me" as a caterer.
my mother and i spent last saturday
buying tortillas and beans and
10 lbs. of bacon (yes. that is what i said),
gallon containers of ranch dressing,
peanut butter and jelly and dried apricots
and yogurt and hot dogs and hamburger and
butter and ketchup and mustard and relish and
pasta and milk and juice and cereal and chips
and water and bug spray (so WE'RE not food)
andandandand...
it took us two hours to plan the meals.
another hour to come up with an itinerary
to fit in kayaking and kite flying and
sandcastle building and wave-riding
and beachcombing and firefly catching
andandandand...
i pick up the 15 passenger van
saturday morning at 8:00.
the shorties are meeting me at 10:00
for the five hour voyage over the
chesapeake bay bridge and
to the eastern shores.
if anybody has any great car game ideas,
toss 'em at me. i have a bag of tricks, but
am open to more ideas
as i am the sole crowd controller.
hee...send patience vibes
my way, people...
three more days to pack.
three more days of peace and quiet.
three more days until
the shorties and i have
the time of our lives.

YEAH!!!! No car games, I always sat in the back of the station wagon (you know, in the rear-facing seat) and tried to get the truck drivers to blow their horns! I know what you're thinking....and no, I didn't do anything like that, and they didn't either...jeez, I was only 10!
ReplyDeleteHave so much fun, can't wait for the recap-

Hey, I just wrote a blog about car games on my "other" blog... I spy was a favorite and "Rubber Neck" where you spell out the alphabet via billboards etc. to yourself and when you get to z you yell "rubberneck" and you win if you're first of course. This was a good one to keep us kids quiet for a bit I'm sure...and no cheating!
ReplyDeleteI will be thinking, thinking, thinking of you on this wild adventure. Who needs car games when you can sing! Do you know Fried Ham? Funky Chicken? Definite crowd pleasers!
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and sending good thoughts your way...
ReplyDeleteIf I think of any good games I'll end some ideas your way. Good music is a must!
I know from experience that just hanging out with you is fun enough...but if you need a car game , so you can rest a moment then try the Waving Game.
ReplyDeletegold cars=50 points
silver cars=40 points
red cars=30 pts
yellow cars=20
blue cars=10 pts.
white cars=10 pts.
semi trucks=30 pts.
....you can make it up as you go along but whoever gets a person in that color car to wave back gets the points. With so many shorties, you may want to let 2 kiddos have like 5 mins. to wave and then let another pair go so they won't be arguing about who got the folks a wavin'.
Have a blast and I look forward to the pics :)
Hope you have a FABULOUS time!
