are we there yet?

39 weeks and counting...

My creation

"the good news is
that you're dilated
4 to 5 centimeters"
said my midwife
this afternoon.
(10cm and you start pushing)

"everything's going beautifully.
it could be tomorrow
or next week.
your body is progressing
towards the birth
of your son."
she smiled at me
through her wise eyes.

tears.
i get to meet him soon.
tears.
i can't believe this is finally happening.

it could be any day now.

our beautiful baby will be in our arms.

  3. oh kathleen, this such a magic sort of time. I mean, it's uncomfortable and all (obviously) but you're on the verge of meeting the person that will change your life monumentally-- and in such wild and wonderful ways. oh, I am so happy for you. seven years ago, I was just where you are now (ava turns 7 next week)... I'll never forget the days leading up to her arrival into this world. beyond special.

I am thinking of you, saying prayers for a healthy baby, healthy mama. wish I could be there to help! if there's anything I can do, please don't hesitate to ask! can't WAIT to meet your son and hear the story... xoxo

  4. Hey Kathleen, I've been reading for a while now and I don't think I've ever popped in to say "hi." (I found you though lovely Andrea, who just commented right up there...)

I love reading your beautiful words, am inspired reularly by all that you do, and wish you the best of luck with your birth! You gave me goosebumps tonight, remembering the time just before each of my children's births. The minutes just can't pass quickly enough until you can hold him, I know! Take care and enjoy the nuzzle of that tiny head on thour cheek...Can't wait to see him!
