self-portrait tuesday 3/14/06: seasons
it is almost as if, with each season,
we start with a clean slate.
i was inspired, by the recent lovely weather,
to show measurement in time
throughout seasons.
a spring field trip,
summer in the outerbanks,
pretending to be "ms. kataluna" for halloween,
and winter camping with friends.
being a teacher,
i still get excited
listening to the radio
for school closings after
a winter storm.
and i love walking the city streets
with the shorties,
looking for signs of new life in march.
the shorties and i sweat as we
walk the few blocks to
mr. benny's snowcone stand
on hot summer afternoons.
scooping out pumpkins,
writing scary stories,
and eating handfuls of candy corn
are the best part of autumn.
what is your favorite season?
Hey, you never told us your fav season!
ReplyDeleteBut since you ask... I am one of those wacky folks who just loves autumn. I love getting out of the dog-day heat of summer and being chilly enough to slip into a new sweater, the riot of color as the leaves celebrate the end of their productive season, the bittersweet savoring of every last sunny day. Plus, there's my birthday and Thanksgiving (sometimes on the same day!) to look forward to! And the ever promising feeling that every ending is always a new beginning. Fall reminds me to enjoy every moment and appreciate the beauty of things BEFORE they are gone.
You know. Not that I've thought about it much. heh heh.
I am all about the autumn as well. Of course, being "in the Moment Guy", I like whichever season is right in front of me, but yay Spring as well!

love this take on SPT... what a great way to measure time.
ReplyDeletefavorite season? I'm such a smmertime kind of girl.
I am an innercity teacher in Connecticut and am curious about the school you teach in, is it a magnet school? I really enjoyed reading your posts about the shorties, reminds me of the kids I teach and how underfunded and overcrowded our school is. Best of luck to you.
